The paper filters should be used with a phosphate-resistant sand, a clay-based paper, an abrasive paper, a paper towel, or liquid-proof paper. It is best to use a clean cotton swab dipped in alcohol or, even better, an ethyl alcohol based swab. Whatman PS Paper resists water and is highly water repellent. The paper resists most liquids and is highly durable. It is most often used in the filtering of urine and other light coloured liquids. Whatman PS Water Repellent Paper is a phase separating paper of special advantage to researchers who need to draw urines through a Whatman filter. The paper removes most of the dyestuffs which cause chlorine taste and odor from urine. Method of use varies according to the method of preparation.
