The coated steel core rods have a solid PTFE end with a twisted portion of glass fibers. This provides a desired stiffness to the rod without imparting a contaminating taste or odor. With only a few exceptions, the VWR steel cored rods are the only ones that can be bent to a permanent shape. Many of our competitors have abrasive ends that leave a stain in the lab petri dish. These Cowie stir rods are designed to last, and will prove useful in many tough applications. The Cowie PTFE Rods w/ Stainless Steel Core are coated with a black non- stick PTFE powder. These can withstand many chemicals normally used in chemical laboratories. Certifications: The VWR PTFE Rods w/ Steel Core are designed for use in laboratories.
