With a transparent, frosted glass bulb that eliminates interference from glare, the Universal Hydrometer reads float-off results only. Ideal for filling beakers, flasks, and test tubes with a wide range of pitch numbers. Not recommended for measuring samples with a hydrometer that has a closed-head design, such as gels. Insert the stoper into the vessel under the capillary rod and read hydrometric results against a fixed reference mark. The Hydrometer will measure drops that have settled on the sides of the vessel, or precipitates that have been collected in a vial.
