Sheldon 103130 Vwr CO2 Incubator 3" Blade is an atmospherically controlled incubator that converts standard gas stoves into a CO2 enrichment chamber. Simply place a charged hood into the chamber, place a lid on it, and a supply of CO2 is automatically injected at the desired growth temperature. The humidity is controlled automatically, so there is no need to do anything except insert the culture tube into the gas flow generator, then place a cover over it, then place a plate with the culture on it, and then cover the entire surface with the lid. Closing the lid after each use ensures the CO2 is removed and not re-injected. This feature allows for accurate temperature control, as well as the generation of multiple samples within the incubator. The incubator has a display window with a temperature control that can be removed to increase or decrease the temperature by a set temperature differential. It also has a built-in CO2 recovery mechanism. The total system has an automatic humidity, CO2 bleed and temperature hold valve that all work independently of one another. The temperature can be varied through a process of ramping; each run is fully controlled with an automatic cutoff after the first hour and before the second day of the cycle; just turn the heat on, and the temperature will be automatically varied. There is no need to re-do because the CO2 will be completely removed from the vapor stream before the next cycle begins. This feature is a safety feature and should be used only for pure culture applications where the organism being studied is sufficiently well developed.
