Standard opening, short neck vials have a polyethylene (LDPE) spout with a short neck extension. Long neck vials have an extra long neck and the short neck extends over the shoulder of the vial, facilitating sampling and sample introduction, and eliminating the need to fine-tune necks. Stopcock bushings maintain the open/closed position in the vial neck, permitting funneling of liquids upward to desired filling volume. Inert material can be used in place of a needle valve when a needle is not present. The short neck increases the user's laboratory notebook capacity. Round neck vials have a wide mouth design to accept a needle. Long neck size should be ordered according to the filling line.
