Material contains no free sulfur, which would give off an off-gassing aroma. Sodium fluoride, one of the most corrosive compounds known to science, is commonly used as an additive in glassware to prevent etching. With the addition of most acids and bases, glassware becomes etch-resistant. Due to the difficulty in etching, glassware manufacturers have begun using alternative, non-traditional materials for manufacturing flasks and carboys. Due to the difficulty in acidifying glassware, most glassblowing companies have chosen to use less expensive, less corrosive, metals such as steel and copper. These flasks are manufactured to close tolerances to ensure that no flask will break under the most flimsy of conditions. Anodizing provides surface protection. Spotting color provides visibility of break or vacuum-adjusted color. Autoclaveable, but not steam autoclavable. Packed two per box. Spiral not included.
