Utilizing the NMEA 2000 communication protocol, the Garmin GST 43 Thru-hull Speed/Temperature Transducer gathers speed and temperature readings. This speed and temperature reader is included as bundled equipment with the GST 10, our high-definition GPS receiver/antenna. When used alone, the Garmin GST 43 Thru-hull Speed/Temperature Tranducer provides readings of the stray or contaminated waters, and when combined with the GST 10, the information can be displayed on a compatible Garmin chartplotter or instrument display. The 43mm or 43mm size allows this thru-hull speed and temperature reader to fit in most recreational 43mm thru-hull holes. The Garmin GST 43 Thru-hull Speed/Temperature Transducer can withstand the elements including salt water, high or low temperatures, and the effects of icing and rough seas. When used in conjunction with the GST 10, the data can be displayed on a compatible Garmin chartplotter or instrument display. When used in conjunction with the GST 10, the readings can be used to optimize the use of certain Garmin chartplotters and high-definition Garmin chartplotters. For other uses, the Garmin GST 43 can be used as a speed sensor and the Garmin GST 43 can be used as a temperature sensor. The information provided by the GST 43 can also be used for other purposes, such as analyzing the effects of different fuel mixtures on fuel.
